Welcome students and parents to a new school year!!!!
I would like to take this opportunity to inform you about my expectations, guidelines and policies for you to earn a passing grade by the end of each marking period. You begin this class with a grade of 100%, and it is your responsibility to keep it. I record your grades for tests, quizzes, class participation and when you complete and submit any other assignment.
This year students will develop and build upon the mathematical skills and concepts they learned in Algebra I and Geometry. This course is divided into four modules. In the first unit students will build on their work with linear, quadratic and exponential functions to include polynomial, rational and radical functions for real and complex numbers. In the second unit, students will build on their work with proofs, the basic trigonometric ratios and the Pythagorean Theorem to include trigonometric functions and simplifying trigonometric expressions. In the third unity students will explore the world of exponential and logarithmic functions and expressions. In the fourth unit, students will be asked to make inferences and draw conclusions from data. This class terminates in a New York State Algebra II/Trigonometry Regents Examination and students are expected to take the regents in June 2015.
Your grade is based on the quality and the quantity of work submitted The overall grade will be based on independent learning assignments, classwork and class participation, homework, and quizzes and tests. Students are responsible to complete all assignments and test regardless of your circumstances. Failure to complete and submit assignments will result in a failing grade. It is also your responsibility to make up all work including quizzes and tests if you are absent for a legitimate reason. No student will be able to make up any work if he or she cuts my class.
While I am here to support your learning, I expect you to work hard and adhere to the classroom rules as well as the rules and regulations set forth by the department of education and McKinney. At anytime throughout the year you or your parent may contact me to answer any question or concern.
I hope that this is a successful school year for everyone and that students and parents find this virtual classroom useful.
